We all need some Medicine

The 13th episode of the seemingly endless Madlib Medicine Show saga is about to be dropped. Quoting from the official website:
Months ago when we dropped a hint that one more Madlib Medicine Show was to come, little did we know that the Madlib Invazion label would find itself dealing with the problem of one printing press after the next refusing to run the artwork. Some who have seen this artwork describe it as "mutant porn." Others simply shake their heads, set it down, wash their hands. Now that an offshore press specializing in "fringe adult publications" has taken the job, the 'secret Medicine Show' will finally be released on March 1st.

True words or simple hype boosting? We leave you with this lil'doubt and with this track, a double remix of two guys you may know: DOOM and Jadakiss.

Best regards.

Back in the days, when mobile phones just left the rubber antenna, when a young Jeb Bush decided the sort of his brother in Florida, when Google was only one search engine among others, when the crap was only a bunch of waves in the ocean.

This track (from 2000 before 50 got Shot) relased on Erick Sermon mixtape "Breath Of Fresh Air ".

Rapropos

Let me introduce you to some interesting reading, once.
Yes, a book, right.

Rapropos is the title that journalit and attachée de presse Luca Gricinella choose to publish his work about the close relationships that occurs between french rap and its country.

A wordplay that literally could mean "about rap", but also a way to explore around and about the french hip hop and rap scene, with all kind of social and political connections, Rapropos, as Luca puts it down, is
"a picture of french society, from a strictly hip hop perspective, the rap culture being behind the objective of this imaginary camera. Very often, isn't unusual that in France many journalists, football players, actors, film makers, opinion leaders, comedians and so on, can cross their paths with rappers, for both bad or good purposes. Simply because rap and hip hop are deeply rooted into french culture, which has been affected since by urban messages and codes."

Nice points, actually. That's why different aspects are touched, starting from cult film La Haine the writer goes deep into late Eighties and early Nineties roots and crews, from Paris to Marseille, and back to the future of the culture.

You can cop it through the distributor, Agenzia X.
Out like au revoir.

On & On &On Like the Mississipi

Got a call this morning from my buddy M, he be tellin me like "Yo, OP get ready, prepare for this jam!", so I play that and think "uhmmm" at first listen, and "yes" at the second. Now, this is the sixth or the seventh time that I repeat this joint, so I definitely understand the meaning of the title and keepin' on with this jazzy flavour.

The Funk League is a French beatmaker/DJ duo and this is an extract from their first album "Funky As Usual", released on January 24th 2012 on Favorite Recordings.

Midnight Satori

Stalley is the man from Ohio, the one who came up with some "Intelligent Trunk Music". Yes, you do remember this, I bet.

Here's a download of the latest joint of a series of unreleased anticipating his sophomore Savage Journey to the American Dream: these leaks are aptly titled "Songs by Me". Funny thing, no release date for the album has been set yet, as long as he doesn't achieve 50K followers on his twitter, we won't know.

If you're interested in it, follow him.

By the way, Block Beattaz on the boards. Blue Collar Gang, Maybach Music Group.

Though it would be funny to stick a while at 49k some, just to see what he'd be up.
Go here to know.

Out like no, thanks.

Apocalypse Miau

Apocalypse miau from SlurpTV on Vimeo.

If you're in Barcelona, tonight, go check Apolo for the venue called Apocalypse Miau.
Found this nice teaser video, and got caught up with it.
A def mix of wrong ideas and tight beats.

Vektroid gave the OST, while Slurp TV rocked the visual, for fun and good vibes, very well combined.

Out like mao, tio.

Nerd Rap Never Dies

Check out the new video by Willie Evans Jr. (of AB's: formerly Asamov).
It's all about that kind of nerd's stuff - like dungeon cards, paper toys or comics - that I've never liked so much, unlike others, but only because to me the good life is about records, fireworks and, of course, chillin' with some fine italian drinks.

However, the track is fire and at the end of the clip starts my favourite joint off the "Introducin' Lp" - Moon Foot, with the amazing sample by the maestro Jan Hammer.

Thanks to akaDanno for the find, and forgive me man, I steal the title.
Salute!

Odd Rella

A bright wrong idea to the fullest.
Music is meh, vid is way too stupid.
Too juicy to avoid chew it.

Also, on friday Domo will drop some new stuff.
We'll be there, no problem.
Out like no future.

Still The Opposition on the block, as you should know by now, we mad appreciate these NY cats. Their DYI philosophy and energy are contagious.

Shaz Illyork comes back with the crew, to anticipate his "Before it all happened".
Spit Gemz is there, Starvin B as well, and please everybody welcome Carmen Indhira, the crew's first lady.

Golden Child laced a good beat, simple and yet grimey.
A grin of pleasure for all the heads that appreciate a bit of brag and some delivery.
You know, that hip hop mentality.

Out like no tomorrow.

Live your life

We've slept a bit over this precious gem, I must admit it.
Yuna's from Malaysia, but lives in L.A., and sings often in NYC.

This is the first single off his next joint, due in April.
Great tune, produced by that dude Pharrell and his Neptunes.

Out like that man who's screaming in the street.

Public Service Announcement

Dear readers,

after almost three years of strettoblaster.com, we've decided to step our game up a little bit, and we are currently in the making of new things for the whole SB project.

At first, as some of you might have noticed, most of the links to download our podcast are dead, since it was all up on Megaupload. Don't worry. We are currently recovering all our mixes and musical selection on our Mixcloud page, so you'll enjoy all our podcasts very soon, and soon you'll hear some more fresh mixes, too. Feel free to visit and spread the Mixcloud page, we'll be very happy about it. Go here.

Second, since we are in the making of some new releases from several italian acts, soon you'll be able to find the entire SB catalogue on Bandcamp, too, with real fresh meat on a monthly basis for a while. We'll tell you more about the whole thing separately.

Third, don't stop the music.
Out like can't stop, won't stop.

ONE EP

Another fine Plug Research drop brings us once again in Chicago.
Spotlights for Tensei, a producing duo composed by Midas Well and Simple X, a musical project started in a college dorm room light years ago, way before you or the artists themselves would expect or think of it, too. They've done it all, with a little help from a few friends, and luckily, the chemistry is still there, the vibe spreads up naturally, the ensemble works.

Listen and decide by yourself if it's worth a penny or not.
Out like hey mom, look, I'm having fun.

Megatron Mindstate

Spit Gemz & Illyork, the Opposition's back.
Dudes keep rockin' mics the old fashioned way.
And we out that same way, like peace.

If you follow our columns on the regular, you already know what time is it.
Ka's debut about to drop, matter of a few weeks, apparently.
No release date set yet, but an interview to highlight some focal point to approach the whole Grief Pedigree when it drops.

Dig our pages to find the gems Ka dropped up to day to anticipate the album.
You won't be deceived.

Out like if we own the night.

August Fanon

August Fannon, or Jamal, is a sir from Dallas, TX, who just sent us an email with a link to his bandcamp. Very humbly, he just asked for a listen to his freshly released free album. He describes himself as an "Educator and Producer jus rockin' steady and keepin' everythang cool...".

We're not new to submissions, and very often we have just to turn these down. Not the case for Black Kids Productions, Movie Scenes Vol. 1, a pleasant beat tape and a way to trip into Jamal's mind and music. The whole collage is effectively put up with a consistent texture of samples and hard drums, with vocal interpolations from videos, interviews, and films.

Check it, worth a good listen.
Out like lights, camera, action.
